Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is often one of the only spaces in which we can be honest with ourselves about who we are and who we want to become. Individual therapy can be used for your own mental health needs, or to process and improve relationships.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy is more common than you might think! Usually it begins with one or both individuals finding themselves unhappy with the current status of their relationship. Maybe you aren't communicating as well as you used to, or don't feel as connected to one another anymore. Couples therapy can also occur as "preventative maintenance" to keep an already happy relationship strong! Working with couples is many of our clinicians' favorite forms of therapy.

Family Therapy

Human beings thrive with connection, particularly with their loved ones. Our focus when working with families is to improve that connection and increase understanding. Families frequently find themselves treating their loved ones as if they were strangers. How does that happen? Many times, it can be due to a high level of expectations to uphold family morals, obligations, and responsibilities. Unfortunately, this can overshadow the level of intimate connection preferred by all members of the family.

Individual Therapy

Grow.

Individual therapy is often one of the only spaces in which we can be honest with ourselves about who we are and who we want to become.

Unique.

Individual therapy can be used for multiple different reasons. Maybe you are just exhausted from taking care of everyone and everything around you and you would like some time to focus on you… Maybe your family is breaking up and you feel overwhelmed… Maybe your relationships are falling apart… Maybe something in your life is pivoting and you aren't ready for such a big change… Maybe you had a very difficult upbringing and you now feel ready to explore self-growth and relationship improvements… Maybe you want to learn how to focus better… Maybe you're struggling with self-esteem or body image... and maybe, just life happens and we need some support.

Telehealth

Online.

Telehealth appointments, otherwise known as online therapy, are offered now and always. Telehealth offers the opportunity to have a confidential platform to communicate with your therapist wherever you are. Telehealth appointments can occur either through a secure video call or a phone call, and are an option whether you are attending therapy individually, as a couple, or as a family. You and your therapist can decide if telehealth would be beneficial to you!

How to Connect

How do I connect to a telehealth appointment with my therapist at EVOLVEwithin?

  • You can use any device that allows for video chats: smart phone, computer, laptop, iPad, etc.

  • You will be provided a link for each of your appointments through your TheraNest Client Portal.

    • If TheraNest is not working properly, the backup software we will be using is Doxy.me. You will be sent a specific link to join the appointment.

    • Phone sessions may also be an option for select appropriate situations for existing clients.

Secure

How can I best protect my own health records/confidentiality while holding therapy appointments via telehealth?

  • Your therapist and yourself are using a HIPAA-compliant software (Both TheraNest and Doxy.me are HIPAA-compliant)

  • Find a space that is closed and away from others (a bedroom/car/basement/back office/garage/etc.)

  • If within the same building/home as others, we encourage you to close the door and use a form of audio on the opposite side of the door such as white noise, fan, or radio.

  • Wear headphones during your appointments

  • Communicate with your family/loved ones that you need privacy for a set amount of time; they do not need to know why

  • If you have a family member/loved one who may enter your space and you wish for session to pause or end, discuss this topic with your therapist.

When To Consider?

When to Consider Couples Therapy

  • Have we lost touch with the love we once had?

  • Do we have different communication styles?

  • Has our sex life disappeared?

  • Do we have the same argument over and over again?

  • Is our relationship starting to affect our children?

  • Do we find ways to avoid one another instead of handling our issues right away?

  • Has one of us had an affair?

  • Am I thinking about having an affair?

  • Are we unable to be honest with one another?

  • Are one or both of us considering an open relationship and would like assistance in this unique new lifestyle choice?

Expectations

What to Expect in Couples Therapy

Couples therapy is designed to meet your needs as a couple. Initially your therapist will want to get an understanding of the issues that are happening within your relationship. Both individuals will have an opportunity to express their concerns about the relationship. Thereafter, your therapist will want to learn more about your history as a couple thus far as well as your individual pasts. Once all the background information is gathered, you and your therapist will discuss and create a plan-of-action to address your goals as a couple.

Couples Therapy is not an opportunity to point fingers, but instead to understand how the current dynamic is not working and to make appropriate modifications. Over time, you will learn new skills and grow together in the direction you desire. It is not your therapist's responsibility to keep you together; if separating or breaking up is the best thing for your relationship, your therapist can help with this process as well as your individual needs and/or family needs. Your therapist is not a lawyer--their main concern is your mental health needs, communication, and creating the best family dynamics possible.
